East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is located in beautiful Johnson City, Tennessee, amidst the stunning southern Appalachian Mountains. The Biomedical Science Graduate Program at ETSU offers the PhD degree with five concentration options in the biomedical sciences, all focused on training students for careers in research and teaching.

The program provides flexibility, allowing students to select a research advisor and concentration program of study after the first year. Students complete a core curriculum during their first and second years and take concentration-specific advanced courses in subsequent years.

Curriculum

Students in the Biomedical Science Graduate Program may select from one of the following concentrations that reflect intensive areas of research at ETSU:

  • cardiovascular sciences;
  • cellular, molecular and chemical biology;
  • immunology, inflammation and infectious diseases;
  • neuroscience; and
  • pharmaceutical sciences.

Tuition, Fees & Financial Support

Students are supported by a graduate assistantship, which includes a stipend of $25,000 per year. Tuition and fees are covered for the student.

Students are required to have, and pay for, their own health insurance.
