Rockville, Md. (August 3, 2021)—The American Physiological Society (APS) has been recognized with eight awards for excellence, including two awards of the highest recognition for The Physiologist Magazine. The awards were given by two organizations in the areas of marketing and communications.

AM&P Network EXCEL Awards

The EXCEL Awards recognize excellence and leadership in association media, publishing, marketing and communications. This year, 81 Gold Awards, 84 Silver and 75 Bronze were handed out. APS was among the most decorated membership association for the prestigious awards program. The Society won the following:

  • Gold Award — The Physiologist Magazine, for Magazines General Excellence for 10,000 or fewer circulation
  • Gold Award — “Gene Screen,” The Physiologist Magazine, MelEdits, for Feature Article for 10,000 or fewer circulation
  • Silver Award — I Spy Physiology Blog, “Why COVID-19 Makes It Hard to Breathe,” for Blog, Blog Single Post
  • Silver Award — APS Twitter Feed, for Best Social Media Feed
  • Silver Award — End-of-Year Fundraising Direct Mail Campaign, for Direct Mail-Campaign
  • Silver Award — Membership Brochure, for Brochure
  • Bronze Award — APS News Update, for Newsletters General Excellence
Communications Concepts’ APEX Awards

APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. APEX Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional entries in each of the individual categories. APS was recognized with the following award:
