Award Description
The Robert W. Berliner Award for Excellence in Renal Physiology is the most prestigious award of the American Physiological Society (APS) Renal Section. The award recognizes distinguished lifetime achievement in renal physiological research by a living scientist. Candidates must be at least 60 years old and a major contributor to the field of renal physiology throughout their career. Accomplishments should include research, teaching, training and activities within the Society. The recipient will be honored at the Renal Section banquet at the American Physiology Summit.
Eligibility
The nominee must be:
- 60 years or older and has contributed to the field of renal physiology over their lifetime.
- A current or former APS members.
Criteria
This award is by nomination only. Self-nomination are not permitted. The nomination package consists of:
- The nominee's curriculum vitae.
- A nomination letter from an APS member.
Applications with excess or incomplete materials, such as additional nomination letters beyond the one required or a blank curriculum vitae will not be considered. Individuals can only accept one section abstract-based award, and the awardee must attend the Summit to receive this award.
Nominations are only accepted via online submission.
