Award Description

The Solomon A. Berson Distinguished Lectureship of the American Physiological Society (APS) Endocrinology & Metabolism (E&M) Section is awarded to a scientist who has made significant and lasting contributions to the scientific areas represented by the E&M Section.  

Solomon Aaron Berson, MD (1918-1972), was an American physician and scientist whose discoveries led to major advances in clinical biochemistry. 

The Berson Lecturer is chosen as a representative of the best within the discipline and presents a one-hour lecture on an aspect of endocrinology and metabolism at the American Physiology Summit. The recipient is also expected to attend and participate in the E&M Section Business Meeting and Awards Reception.

This award is by nomination only. Self-nominations are not permitted. The nominee must: 

  • Be nominated by an APS member in good standing.
