Award Description

The Henry Pickering Bowditch Award Lectureship is awarded to a regular member, who is 42 or younger at the time of the Bowditch Lecture, or who is less than eight years from the start of their first faculty or staff research scientist position beyond postdoctoral training, for original and outstanding accomplishments in the field of physiology. Selected by the APS Executive Cabinet, the recipient presents a lecture at the APS annual meeting. The lecture may be considered for publication in the Society journal of their choosing. This is a nomination only award, you must be nominated by an APS member. 

The recipient is expected to attend the annual meeting, where they will receive their award and participate in special events such as a Bowditch poster session.

The recipient receives an honorarium of $2,500, a plaque, and reimbursement of expenses incurred while participating in the annual meeting (maximum $2000).

The membership is invited to submit nominations for the Bowditch Lecturer. A nomination shall be accompanied by a candidate's curriculum vitae and two letters detailing the individual's status, contributions, and potential. Nominations are only accepted via online submission


Eligibility
  • Must be a regular member, who is 42 or younger at the time of the Bowditch Lecture,
  • or who is less than eight years from the start of their first faculty or staff research scientist position beyond postdoctoral training

  • Nominee's Curriculum Vitae.
