Award Description
Selected by the American Physiological Society (APS) Executive Committee, the Henry Pickering Bowditch Award Lectureship recipient presents a lecture at the American Physiology Summit. The lectureship is awarded for original and outstanding accomplishments in the field of physiology. The lecture may be considered for publication in the Society journal of their choosing. This award is contingent upon funding and cannot be deferred to future years.
The Bowditch lecturer will receive their award and participate in special events at the Summit. The recipient will select 10 abstracts submitted in their research field to receive poster awards at the Summit.
This award is nomination only. Self-nominations are not permitted.
Eligibility
The nominee must:
- Be a regular APS member who is 42 or younger at the time of the Bowditch Lecture.
- Be less than eight years from the start of their first faculty or staff research scientist position beyond postdoctoral training.
- Be an APS member for two consecutive years.
Criteria
The nomination package consists of :
- Two nomination letters detailing the individual's status, contributions and potential.
- A PDF of the nominee's curriculum vitae.
Nominations are only accepted via online submission.
Award at a Glance
Award amount: $2,500 honorarium and up to $2,000 reimbursement of expenses occurred while participating in the annual meeting.
