Award Description
The Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology Section Horace W. Davenport Distinguished Lectureship is named in honor of Horace W. Davenport, one of the most distinguished members of the Gastrointestinal & Liver Physiology Section and a past president of APS. This is the most prestigious award given by the Gastrointestinal & Liver Physiology Section.
The award, chosen by the Gastrointestinal & Liver Physiology Section Steering Committee, recognizes distinguished lifetime achievement in gastrointestinal and liver physiological research, including accomplishments in research, teaching, training and activities within the Society. The ideal candidate will have made contributions whose implications extend beyond the boundaries of gastrointestinal and liver research interests. Awardees will deliver an honorary award lecture at American Physiology Summit and are recognized at the Gastrointestinal & Liver Physiology Section banquet and business meeting.
Eligibility
The nominee must:
- be an APS member and
- have a primary affiliation with the GIL Section.
Criteria
Nominations must be submitted by APS members. The nomination package includes:
- the nominee's curriculum Vitae and
- a nomination Letter

Award at a Glance
Award amount: $1,000, reimbursement of the early registration fee, up to $2,000 travel reimbursement to American Physiology Summit, and complimentary admission to the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section banquet.
