Award Description

The American Physiological Society (APS) Environmental & Exercise Physiology (EEP) Section Edward F. Adolph Distinguished Lectureship recognizes an eminent research scholar who has made meritorious contributions to the areas of environmental, exercise, thermal or applied physiology, is an outstanding public speaker, and has demonstrated collegial service to the EEP Section or scientific community. 

About Edward F. Adolph 

Edward F. Adolph, PhD (1895-1986), was a pioneering integrative physiologist best known for his research into physiological regulation in, and adaptations to hot and cold environments. His major contributions to environmental and exercise physiology include groundbreaking research on human heat adaptation and desert survival mechanisms and developing comparative physiological approaches that revolutionized understanding of adaptive mechanisms to extreme environments. 

Eligibility

The nominee must: 

  • Be an established investigator in a field related to the EEP Section.
  • Demonstrate outstanding contributions to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in this area.
Criteria

The nomination materials consist of:

  • Letter of nomination from a current EEP Section member addressing the criteria for the award.  
  • Nominee's curriculum vitae.

Nomination packages with excess or incomplete materials, such as a third nomination letter or a blank curriculum vitae will not be evaluated.
