Who Can Apply: APS members in good standing who are established mid-career investigators with a primary EEP Section affiliation. 

     

Award Description

The Environmental and Exercise Physiology (EEP) Section Impact Award recognizes a mid-career primary EEP member who has either established a line of impactful research or has made a seminal discovery in the areas of environmental, exercise, thermal, or applied physiology, and has contributed as a collegial citizen of the EEP and/or scientific community.  

Eligibility

Applicant must:

  • be between mid- and established investigator career stage, and   
  • be an APS member with a primary EEP Section affiliation.

For the purposes of this award, mid-career candidates are, at the time of application, associate professors or full professors within 10 years of their appointment as an associate professor. Candidates may hold a comparable position in a research track at an academic institution or in industry.  

Criteria

This award allows self-nominations from colleagues. The nomination materials consist of:  

  • letter of nomination from a current EEP Section member, 
  • nominee’s curriculum vitae, and  
  • publication reprints for highlighted work.

Nomination letters must address criteria for the award, i.e., established an impactful line of research or made a seminal discovery, and state that the candidate is a collegial citizen of EEP and/or scientific community.

The Awards Committee reserves the right to contact colleagues and/or former trainees for character references.
