Award Description
The Joseph Erlanger Distinguished Lectureship of the American Physiological Society (APS) Central Nervous System Section is awarded to a scientist who has made major and meritorious contributions to the scientific areas represented by CNS.
About Joseph Erlanger
Joseph Erlanger, MD (1874-1965), was an American physiologist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1944 for fundamentally advancing our understanding of how the central nervous system transmits information.
The recipient will be a representative of the best within the discipline from a slate of nominees selected by the CNS Section Steering Committee. The lecturers will present at the American Physiology Summit.
Eligibility
The nominee must:
- Hold an advanced degree in a CNS-related field.
- Be nominated by a member of the CNS Section Steering Committee.
