Award Description
The Carl W. Gottschalk Distinguished Lectureship of the Renal Section recognizes a world-renowned, distinguished scientist and engaging speaker who has made major contributions to understanding physiological processes through state-of-the-art research. The candidate’s area(s) of research expertise does not need to be in renal physiology but should be of interest to Renal Section members. In addition to delivering the Carl W. Gottschalk Distinguished Lecture, the recipient will participate in the Renal Section’s Posters and Professors Reception at the American Physiology Summit and will be recognized at the Renal Section banquet. The awardee will be invited and strongly encouraged to write a review to be published in the American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology. Nominators must upload a brief summary (no more than two pages) of the candidate's contributions relevant to renal physiology.
Eligibility
The candidate must:
- be an APS member with primary affiliation to the Renal Section, and
- be nominated by an APS member
Criteria
The nomination package consists of:
- a nomination letter that includes a summary of the candidate’s contributions relevant to renal physiology, and
- full curriculum vitae and publication list
Recipients are selected one year in advance and are expected to attend the Summit the following year.
