Award Description
The Cardiovascular (CV) Section Mid-career Investigator Award recognizes an outstanding investigator in cardiovascular research, with a focus on translational science and medicine that link basic science to disease mechanisms.
Award Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on the quality, completeness and relevance of the submitted materials as well as how effectively they demonstrate alignment with the award’s purpose and objectives.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be an APS member in good standing with the CV Section as their primary affiliation.
- Be a mid-career investigator as an associate professor or an equivalent position in academia or industry.
- Be no more than 10 years from their first professorship.
- Submit an abstract to a CV Section topic category.
Application Requirements
A complete application must include:
- Confirmation that the applicant’s abstract is submitted to a CV Section topic category.
- A PDF of a corresponding- or senior-author abstract from the applicant’s lab that will be presented at the American Physiology Summit.
- The abstract number and first author's name.
- A biosketch in the National Institutes of Health format.
The CV Section Awards Committee selects one recipient each year.
Conditions of the Award
The awardee must accept the award at the Summit and attend the CV Section banquet. The recipient is responsible for funding their travel.
Applicants may apply to as many awards as they are eligible for; however, recipients may only receive one abstract-based award for the Summit.
