Award Description
The Presidential Service Award recognizes an American Physiological Society (APS) member for extended and outstanding volunteer service to the Society and the broader physiology community. Member volunteers who have served the Society extensively throughout their career may be considered for the Presidential Service Award.
Award Criteria
Nominations will be evaluated on the nominee’s volunteer service to the Society and scientific community.
Eligibility
Nominees must:
- Be an APS member for at least five consecutive years.
- Be a mid-career to an established professional.
Demonstrate exceptional commitment through the following service activities:
- Editor or reviewer for APS journals.
- Chair or member of Society committees.
- Demonstrated long-term leadership in sections or interest groups.
- Task force members or participants in special projects.
- Outreach to the scientific community or the general public.
Nomination Requirements
A complete nomination must include:
- The nominee's curriculum vitae.
Conditions of the Award
The recipient recipient is selected by the APS Executive Cabinet and will be recognized at the Summit. The recipient must attend the American Physiology Summit to accept this award. The award cannot be deferred and is contingent upon funding.
