Award Description

The American Physiological Society (APS) and the Goyal Family Charitable Foundation(GFCF) share the mission of advancing the study of gastrointestinal and liver physiology through the exchange of scientific ideas and creation career development programs. Thanks to a grant from the GFCF and the Raj and Prem Goyal Fund, the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section is pleased to offer the Raj and Prem Goyal Lectureship in Pathophysiology. 

This award, selected by the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section Award Committee, recognizes exemplary contributions of research in physiology in understanding the mechanism and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Awardees will deliver a lecture at the American Physiology Summit and will be recognized at the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section banquet.

Eligibility

The applicants must:

  • be an APS member in good standing;
  • be a member of the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section; and
  • be a mid-career professional (e.g., associate professor level or within three years post-promotion to full professor).
Criteria

Applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Nomination letter from an APS member

Award amount: $1,000, early registration reimbursement for the American Physiology Summit and complimentary admission to the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section banquet
