Raj and Prem Goyal Lectureship in Pathophysiology of Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease

Award Description

The Raj and Prem Goyal Lectureship in Pathophysiology of Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease recognizes exemplary contributions to the research of physiology and understanding the mechanisms and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases.   

The American Physiological Society and the Goyal Family Charitable Foundation (GFCF) share the mission of advancing the study of gastrointestinal and liver physiology through the exchange of scientific ideas and the creation career development programs. Thanks to a grant from the GFCF and the Raj and Prem Goyal Fund, the Gastrointestinal & Liver Physiology (GIL) Section is pleased to offer this lectureship.

Award Criteria

Nominees will be evaluated on their curriculum vitae and the quality of the content of a nomination letter. 

Eligibility

Nominees must :

• Be an established APS member in good standing with the GIL Section.  
• Be a mid-career professional (e.g., associate professor level or within three years post-promotion to full professor). 
• Be able to attend the American Physiology Summit to accept the award. 

The award is available by nomination only. Self-nominations are not permitted. Past nominees are eligible to be considered, but individuals can only receive this award once.

Nomination Requirements 

A complete nomination must include:  

• The nominee's curriculum vitae.
• A nomination letter from an APS member.

A GIL Section Awards Committee selects one recipient each year.

Conditions of the Award

The recipient must accept the award at the Summit and attend the GIL Section banquet. They are expected to deliver a lecture via webinar.

Nominators are responsible for confirming the nominee can attend the Summit. The awardee is responsible for funding their travel.
