Award amount: $500,plus reimbursement of the early registration fee for the American Physiology Summit and complimentary admission to the CEPS banquet

Who can apply: Undergraduate or graduate trainees who are first authors on the abstracts presented at the American Physiology Summit. Either the applicant or the sponsor must be an APS member in good standing.

Award Description

The American Physiological Society (APS) Comparative & Evolutionary Physiology Section (CEPS) Travel Award recognizes an outstanding graduate or undergraduate student involved in comparative and evolutionary research. This award is designed to assist the award recipient in attending the American Physiology Summit. At least two travel awards will be made each year based on the abstracts judged to be most meritorious. Awardees are recognized at the CEPS business meeting at the American Physiology Summit. This award is sponsored by Novo Nordisk Foundation. 

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • be an undergraduate or graduate student; 
  • be member in good standing of APS, or their sponsor must be an APS member; 
  • submit a first-authored abstract to the American Physiology Summit in a CEPS topic category; and
  • attend the American Physiology Summit to present their research. 

Award recipients may receive this award once as an undergraduate student and once as a graduate student. Applicants may apply to as many awards as they are eligible for, however, recipients may only accept one abstract-based award for the American Physiology Summit. 

Criteria

The application package includes:

  • abstract number
  • abstract first author’s name
  • PDF of abstract 
  • sponsor or advisor’s full name
  • abstract sponsor or advisor email
  • proof of student status

Optional documents

  • Abstract sponsor or advisor’s APS membership ID number
