Award Description
The Martin Frank Travel Award is designed to broaden participation of those pursuing professional careers in physiological sciences. The award is intended to increase participation in and networking at scientific meetings among trainees and early-career faculty who are either the first person in their family to receive a baccalaureate degree or come from an economically disadvantaged background.
Specifically, the program provides travel awards to attend the American Physiology Summit. Travel Award recipients receive travel reimbursement, plus mentoring and networking opportunities during the meeting. Applicants should register for the meeting at the early registration rate.

Eligibility
The Martin Frank Travel Awards are open to:
- Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and early career faculty (recently transitioned; within 5 years of receiving a PhD) level.
- Individuals who are either the first person in their family to earn a baccalaureate degree or come from an economically disadvantages background. People from all racial and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants attending or conducting research within U.S. institutions.
Criteria
Applicants are selected based on the applicant’s reasons for attending the Summit, CV and recommendation letters. These awards do not provide funds for international travel. The award cannot be delayed and is contingent upon funding.
