Award Description
The American Physiological Society (APS) Respiration Section offers The Usha Award, thanks to a sponsorship by Y.S. Prakash, MD, PhD, former editor-in-chief of Comprehensive Physiology. Usha means "dawn" in Sanskrit. This award is given to two promising trainees for their abstract submitted to the American Physiology Summit. Criteria for selection will include the level of excitement regarding the nominee's future, contribution by the nominee to the work, and the importance of their work to the field.
Eligibility
The applicant must:
- Be an undergraduate or graduate student or research fellow, no more than five years since being granted the terminal degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, DVM).
- Be a first author of an abstract submitted to a Respiration Section topic category for presentation at the Summit.
Criteria
The application package includes:
- A PDF of the first-author abstract.
Applications are only accepted via online submission.
Award at a Glance
Award amount: $500, plus reimbursement of the early registration fee to the American Physiology Summit and a complimentary ticket to the Respiration Section dinner.
