Abstract Revision Policy

Read the abstract carefully before you finalize the submission.

Abstracts will be published, unedited, as submitted by the author. American Physiological Society is not responsible for and will not copy edit abstract submissions. After the abstract has been successfully submitted, any change to the abstract title, body, funding citation, authors and/or institutional affiliations must be approved by all co-authors who have seven (7) days to protest the revision or withdrawal.

Common mistakes include:

  • Duplicating the title, authors and/or institutions within the abstract body
  • Omission of author(s)
  • Inappropriate inclusion of author(s) 
  • Omission of funding source(s)
  • Incorrect institutional affiliation(s)
  • Incorrect author order
  • Typographical errors such as transposing letters in common words
  • Incorrect special characters such as Greek text or mathematical symbols
How to Request Abstract Revisions

Revision requests are made via the online abstract submission site.

  • Login to the abstract submission site.
  • Navigate to Your Submission on the left navigation bar.
  • Click the title to update changes to title, body text or funding.
  • Click the authors to update changes to the authors and affiliations.
Fee Schedules

Revisions to abstract title, body or authors:

  • No fee if revisions are made by November 14, 2023.
  • $50 fee if revisions made November 15, 2023 through January 2, 2024.
  • $100 fee if revisions made January 3, 2024, through February 2, 2024.
  • No revisions allowed after February 2, 2024.
Withdrawals
  • No fee if withdrawn by November 14, 2023.
  • $50 fee if withdrawn November 15, 2023 until January 15, 2024.
  • $200 fee if withdrawn after January 15, 2024.
  • Abstracts withdrawn after publication in Physiology journal cannot be withdrawn but will be notated as withdrawn in the title.
