Late-breaking Abstracts

Late-breaking abstracts for the Summit, the innovative annual meeting of the American Physiological Society (APS), are now open.

A late-breaking abstract should contain:

  • new information that was not yet known or fully available by the on-time abstract submission deadline, and/or
  • findings that are of high scientific impact that are especially newsworthy and deserving of consideration.

Submit by January 31, 2024, for the opportunity to collaborate with others working, teaching and learning in the biomedical sciences.

Submit Your Abstract

Accepted abstracts will be scheduled for presentation and published in the APS journal Physiology.

There is a $125 nonrefundable fee for each submitted abstract.

  • All abstracts must be submitted electronically.
  • Payment is required at the time of submission.
  • Payment may be made with Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards. A receipt of the abstract handling charge will be emailed to the first author only.
  • Submitting an abstract does not register you for the Summit.
  • Registration is a separate charge. You must register for the Summit to be able to present your abstract during the Summit. See the registration tab for more details.
  • If an abstract is withdrawn, the submission fee cannot be refunded.
  • All accepted abstracts will be published in the journal Physiology, unedited.

All submitters will be notified late February 2024 of the specific date, time and presentation format. In the meantime, please make your registration, travel and housing arrangements as soon as possible through the APS Summit website.

Visa Applications

We encourage you to start your visa application process right away. APS does not provide financial support to abstract presenters at the annual Summit and all abstract presenters are expected to duly register for the Summit.
