Comparative Physiology: From Organisms to Omics in an Uncertain World

Join us for the eighth APS Intersociety Meeting in Comparative Physiology, one of a few international meetings dedicated solely to the dissemination of conceptual and technological advances in comparative and evolutionary physiology.

The theme of the 2022 meeting is “From Organism to Omics in an Uncertain World.” Comparative physiology seeks to discover how animals work and why they function the way they do. These two seemingly straightforward questions have far-reaching implications and require a variety of investigative approaches at multiple levels of biological organization. Determining the details of physiological mechanisms while simultaneously gaining insights into the evolutionary or adaptive significance of a physiological process or trait is a challenge to comparative physiologists.

The meeting will highlight some of the important work being done to understand physiological function in the face of climate change and other anthropogenic factors as well as the emergence of omics approaches in comparative physiology. The program will include plenary lectures, symposia, contributed oral and poster presentations, workshops and an awards dinner, at which the APS Comparative & Evolutionary Physiology Section Scholander Award recipient will be recognized.
