ANNOUNCING THE FIRST-EVER IPE QUIZ BOWL!

The APS Integrative Physiology of Exercise 2020 Meeting proudly announces the inaugural Quiz Bowl. The Quiz Bowl is a "Jeopardy"-like competition that will test the participants’ knowledge of the Integrative Physiology of Exercise.

What is the IPE Quiz Bowl?  Many of you are aware of the ACSM Quiz Bowl that is hosted annually at the ACSM National Conference. The format will be similar, but UNLIKE the ACSM Quiz Bowl, the IPE Quiz Bowl will feature contestants at the Graduate/Post-Doctoral level. This is an opportunity for Graduate Students and Post-Doctoral Research Assistants to show-off what they know about the Integrative Physiology of Exercise across a wide variety of scientific disciplines, such as Skeletal Muscle, Cardiovascular, Metabolism, Exercise Prescription, Adaptations, History of the Field, etc.

Here is what you need to know for now:

  1. Each team must consist of 3 trainees. These trainees may include graduate students (at any level) and/or post-doctoral research assistants.  Each question is asked of all teams, and answers are provided as a team.

  2. Each team must have a faculty sponsor.

  3. Each team must submit the name of a faculty or trainee (non-team) member to serve as a referee. Team sponsors may also serve as referees.

  4. Each team member and sponsor (or referee) must have pre-registered for the IPE Meeting to be eligible. If you haven’t registered yet, register now!

  5. Each institution cannot have more than 2 teams, and inclusion of the second team will be based on the overall numbers of teams participating. This year, we are allowing 30 teams to participate, so contact us soon if you are interested to make sure you have a team in the bowl.

Feel free to contact James Fluckey with any questions.

Good luck, and I look forward to hearing from you,
