Award Description

The Leonard Share Award was established in 2015 to recognize a Water & Electrolyte Homeostasis (WEH) Section member who has contributed their time and talents to the WEH Section and APS. This award honors a member with a well-recognized research program and who has contributed to the knowledge of WEH research. This award is named after Leonard Share, PhD, who created the WEH Section in 1982 and was responsible for recognizing WEH research as a subdiscipline within the Society.

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • be an APS member with primary WEH Section affiliation and have contributed significant service to the WEH Section and APS.
  • Past presidents of APS are not eligible for this award. However, members who have served in many other capacities and are one of our “unsung heroes” are encouraged to apply.
Criteria

Nominations for the Leonard Share Award are solicited from the WEH membership and evaluated by a selection committee composed of established WEH members.

The nomination package consists of:

  • a nomination letter which describes the nominee’s accomplishments and
  • the nominee’s curriculum vitae.

The award recipient will be announced at the WEH Section luncheon and business meeting at the American Physiology Summit.
