Dependent Support Travel Award
Deadline to apply: July 7, 2025
The APS Dependent Support Travel Award is a reimbursable allowance of up to $500 for the 2025 New Trends in Sex Differences and Women’s Health Research conference. Funds may not be used for ongoing dependent care expenses or the costs associated with transporting dependents to the meeting. All awardees must have a receipt for reimbursement request. Four eligible funding scenarios are listed below.
Eligibility
Applicant must:
- Be an APS member in good standing
- online abstract submission site. Abstract ID number is required. Submissions to late-breaking abstracts do not apply.
- Be a primary caregiver.
Only one Dependent Support Travel Award may be awarded per family. Priority will be given to trainees and early-career scientists (must not be above the rank of assistant professor or equivalent in government, industry or medicine).
Criteria
The application consists of:
- A one-page summary describing how this award will be of benefit.
Please include:
- The number of dependents.
- Number of hours needed.
- Type of funding scenario support requested.
- Estimated cost.
Eligible Funding Scenarios
- Dependent(s) care provider travels to meeting location to care for dependent.
- Dependents travel to caregiver outside of home community.
- Care provider travels to applicant’s home.
- Additional hours at applicant’s home for care provider.
Funding may NOT be applied to the following:
- Ongoing dependent care an attendee would normally incur (e.g., daycare, before and after school care)
- Costs of dependent(s) travel to the meeting location.
- Attendee’s conference or travel expenses.
- Rental car fees.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
