California-based biotechnology startup company Fauna Bio harnesses the power of comparative mammalian genomics to develop therapeutics for human diseases. In this webinar, Linda Goodman, PhD, co-founder and chief technology officer of the company, and senior research scientist Rui Song, PhD, will discuss the use of Fauna Bio’s computational platform to leverage multi-omics data from human and disease-resistant animal hibernator models. They will also explain how this platform, coupled with in vitro and in vivo research, has allowed researchers to identify drug targets for conditions such as heart attack and cardiac fibrosis.

Speakers

Linda GoodmanLinda Goodman, PhD, is co-founder and chief technology officer of Fauna Bio in California, where she leads the computational team to identify novel therapeutic targets. Previously, Goodman was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, studying mammalian comparative genomics. She holds a PhD in genetics and genomics from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and an MPhil in computational biology from the University of Cambridge in the U.K.

Rui SongRui Song, PhD, is an expert in cell-based and in vivo models used to assess gene function. He completed a postdoc at the University of California, Berkeley, studying the function of novel miRNAs in mouse embryonic stem cells. As a senior research scientist at Fauna Bio, based in California, Song is head of target discovery and target validation programs. His goals are to use his research expertise to decode hibernation biology and to help improve patient treatment options.
