APS Fellows Committee

Purpose

The APS Fellows Committee is responsible for the administration and review of nominees for the Fellow of the American Physiological Society (FAPS) Program.

Meetings

The committee meets at least once annually. Meetings may be either conducted in person or virtually.  

Composition

This committee is composed of 12 members, one from each section, plus a chair, all of whom must hold the FAPS designation. The chair also serves on the APS Advisory Council. Members are not eligible for reappointment. The awards and events manager serves as staff liaison to the committee.

Duties

  • Administer the Fellow of the American Physiological Society (FAPS) Program in accordance with the criteria established by the committee and approved by the APS Board of Directors.
  • Submit a written annual report to the Board at their spring meeting, as part of the consent agenda, providing activities from the previous 12 months. The report will be due three weeks ahead of the meeting.
