In this webinar, Michael Matthay, MD, and Narges Alipanah-Lechner, MD, will discuss the clinical and biological features of acute respiratory distress disorder syndrome (ARDS). The speakers will emphasize the importance of metabolic signatures and their relationship to hyper- and hypoinflammatory phenotypes.

Michael A. Matthay, MD, is a professor of medicine and anesthesia at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is a senior associate at UCSF’s Cardiovascular Research Institute and associate director of Critical Care Medicine. Matthay received his AB from Harvard University and his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Narges Alipanah-Lechner, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UCSF. She received her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree and master’s degree in clinical and epidemiological research from UCSF. Alipanah-Lechner’s research focus is to apply complementary systems biology approaches within precision medicine to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with syndromes of critical illness such as sepsis and ARDS.
