Chapter Advisory Committee

PURPOSE: The Chapter Advisory Committee (CAC) is responsible for ensuring strong, positive relationships between the American Physiological Society (APS) and its affiliated chapters, and for representing the Society's interests with chapters. Chapters promote, at the local level, the general goals and programs of APS.

MEETINGS: The Committee shall meet at least once annually at the APS annual meeting. Other meetings may be conducted either in person or virtually.

COMPOSITION:

The CAC is composed of a representative from each affiliated chapter of APS, who is also a member of APS, plus a chair. The chair serves a three-year term and is appointed by the Committee. The chair also serves on the APS Advisory Council. The member services manager shall serve as staff liaison to the committee.

DUTIES:
  • Serve as the APS representative to the chapters and facilitate good relations between the Society and its chapters.
  • Work with chapters to ensure they are in good standing, meeting the terms and conditions of the APS Chapter Affiliation Agreement.
  • Assist with the formation of new chapters and submit to the APS Board of Directors for approval.
  • Submit a written annual report to the Board at their spring meeting, as part of the consent agenda, providing activities from the previous 12 months. The report will be due three weeks ahead of the meeting.
