In this webinar, David Harris, PhD, and medical student Michael Cunningham will explain how the University of Central Florida College of Medicine uses ScholarRx Rx Bricks™ for knowledge acquisition in a new curriculum. They will share successes and challenges for both faculty and students. The webinar will provide examples of how faculty use classroom time for conceptual and critical thinking skill development. 

Key Learning Objectives:   

  • Describe how ScholarRx Rx Bricks™ can be utilized by faculty, including modification and annotation in a medical school curriculum. 
  • Identify possible enablers and barriers to implementation of Scholar Rx Bricks. 
  • Summarize classroom activities that can emphasize conceptual and critical thinking skills development in medical students.

Professor, Director, Longitudinal Curriculum, University of Central Florida College of Medicine

David Harris, PhD, is a professor and director of longitudinal curriculum at the University of Central Florida. His research focuses on active learning methodologies including the use of high-fidelity patient simulation in pre-clerkship medical students.

 

Michael Cunningham
Medical Student, University of Central Florida College of Medicine

Michael Cunningham is a third-year medical student at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine with an educational background in linguistics and integrative physiology. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado. Cunningham has conducted research into modalities of pre-clinical instruction and assessment of health professions trainees in both pharmacy and medical education and is a former clinical faculty affiliate for Florida A&M College of Pharmacy.
